Administrative Fiduciary Services, Inc. 'AFS' (www.afs316.com) is a 3(16)-firm headquartered in Houston, Texas. We provide 3(16) fiduciary services for all types of qualified retirement plans including, 401(k), Profit Sharing, Cross-Tested and Defined Benefit, including Cash Balance Plans.

The successful candidate will be expected to make regular progress passing the examinations required for NIPA Distribution Administrator and Loan Administrator Certificates. In order to pass the two required exams, most individuals must invest time studying during personal time. Job Summary: Completes all requests for loans, in-service and termination distributions, and all participant and plan sponsor inquiries associated with this task. Coordinates loan default reports, Minimum Required Distributions, and other related tasks. Tracks and reports on progress of all requests, gives information to participants, plan sponsors, and brokers, as necessary. Training will be provided, but the successful candidate should be comfortable learning independently. Telecommuting is available for this position.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Prepare distribution and loan packages from start to finish, including vesting verifications for daily recordkept plans
  • Identifies loan defaults and MRD from reports online or provided by plan sponsors
  • Assist participants, clients, and/or financial advisors with distribution and loan issues/inquiries
  • Updates account managers, management, and plan sponsors as necessary on requests and progress
  • Serve as backup for answering the AFS participant services line
  • Have general understanding and interpretation of plan documents regarding distributions and loans
  • Serve as a backup for data entry
  • Continue training on loan, distribution and other 401k issues
  • Pursue and attain NIPA's Distribution Administrator and Loan Administrator certificates
  • Remain up to date on AFS' Cyber security procedures and training
  • Establish solid working relationship with all vendors and plan sponsors to ensure open and accurate communication
  • Perform other related duties as required

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Bilingual speaking a plus
  • Knowledge of modern office procedures and methods including telephone communications, office systems, and record keeping
  • Working knowledge or ability to quickly grasp concepts of reading, reviewing, and understanding plan documents
  • Knowledge of modern business communication, including style and format of letters, memorandum, minutes, and reports
  • Skill to use a personal computer and proficiency in MS Excel and MS Word
  • Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with objectives without supervision
  • Ability to handle and resolve recurring problems
  • Superior organizational and coordination skills
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and ability to multi-task
