401(k) Associates is a rapidly growing national third party consulting firm providing administrative services to companies sponsoring 401(k), pension and other qualified retirement plans. We have a nationally recognized sales team allowing us to grow in excess of 20% per year providing advancement opportunities for our professionals.

We are looking to fill a Distribution Specialist I position in our Houston office. Although welcome, industry experience is not necessary and paid training will be provided. Candidates will also be required to successfully complete the NIPA Distribution Administrator and Loan Administrator Certificates. For additional information on the Distribution Administrator and Loan Administrator Certificate Program, please visit NIPA’s website at www.nipa.org.

 

Job Responsibilities:
 

  • Prepare distribution and loan packages from start to finish, including vesting verifications for daily recordkept plans
  • Identify loan defaults and MRDs from reports online or provided by plan sponsors
  • Assist participants, clients, and/or financial advisors with distribution and loan issues/inquiries
  • Update account managers, management, and plan sponsors as necessary on requests and progress
  • Serve as backup for answering the Nova participant services line
  • Have general understanding and interpretation of plan documents regarding distributions and loans
  • Serve as a backup for data entry
  • Continue training on loan, distribution and other 401k issues
  • Pursue and attain NIPA's Distribution Administrator and Loan Administrator certificates
  • Remain up to date on Nova's Cyber security procedures and training
  • Establish solid working relationship with all vendors and plan sponsors to ensure open and accurate communication
  • Perform other related duties as required

 

Qualifications:

  • No experience required
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Bilingual speaking is a plus
  • Knowledge of modern office procedures and methods including telephone communications, office systems and record keeping
  • Working knowledge or ability to quickly grasp concepts of reading, reviewing and understanding plan documents
  • Knowledge of modern business communication, including style and format of letters, memorandum, minutes and reports
  • Skill to use a personal computer and proficiency in MS Excel and MS Word
  • Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with objectives without supervision
  • Ability to handle and resolve recurring problems
  • Superior organizational and coordination skills
  • Flexibility, adaptability and ability to multi-task
