Nova 401(k) Associates is looking to fill a Multiple-Employer Plan (MEP) Assistant Team Leader position. If you are located near one of our physical offices (currently Austin, Dallas, Houston and Scottsdale), the position will allow you to work partly from home and partly from our office. If you are not near one of our physical offices, we will provide you with a home office setup including computer and phone so that you can serve your clients from home.

Our team leaders and assistant team leaders focus on managing our teams in addition to reviewing and client/advisor service. We are building our MEP Team by consolidating MEP clients from existing teams. Our MEP team will be poised for growth and is supported by strong implementation, plan document, and loan and distribution teams. Teams work toward stated firm goals with special recognition given to individuals with exceptional performance.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the management of team with 8 staff members, which will eventually grow to a team of 12 (maximum) staff members.
  • Champion Nova 401(k) Associates values and policies.
  • Monitor team productivity through weekly report generation
  • Assist with preparation of team weekly workflow agenda
  • Assist in training and mentoring of junior staff members throughout the year.
  • Perform escalated reviews for work product prepared by your team members.
  • Keep current with new regulations and proposed legislation.
  • Assist with Nova client/broker educational seminars, webinars, or special Nova events.
  • Assist team members with annual client review meetings.
  • Maintain a MEP caseload (not to exceed 150 adopting employers).
  • Superior working knowledge of new MEP & PEO regulations.
  • Serve as a technical resource on MEPs (and potentially PEPs) for the MEP team and Nova 401(k) Associates.
  • Provide design and consulting services to plans assigned to your team.
  • Cultivate existing client relationships for plans assigned to your team.
  • Communicate with MEP sponsors, financial advisors, attorneys, CPAs, and other professionals on plans assigned to your team.

​​​​​​​Qualifications:
  • 5 or more years of supervisory or management experience in the retirement plan field. Experience managing remote employees a plus.
  • 3 or more years of working with multiple MEPs including PEOs, open MEPs and association plans. Experience with pricing and billing MEPs a plus.
  • Experience with moving client organizations in and out of MEPs
  • Familiarity with MEP service models and providers
  • Ability to manage workload towards weekly goals in a “results only” environment
  • Excellent knowledge of MEPs and PEOs including recent guidance and pending legislation
  • Excellent knowledge of ADP/ACP, 415, 410(b), Top Heavy and 401(a)(4) non-discrimination testing with a specific focus on how these issues apply the MEP environment
  • Strong knowledge of ERISA, Internal Revenue Code and Regulations, including experience in nondiscrimination testing
