We provide administrative and actuarial services to companies sponsoring 401(k), pension and other qualified retirement plans.   We have a nationally recognized sales team allowing us to grow in excess of 20% per year that provides internal growth opportunities for our professionals. 


We are currently seeking a Payroll/Benefit Coordinator for our main office in Houston, TX.   This position requires 100% attendance in our Houston office.  100% remote work is not offered for this position.


Pandemic information – To allow for adequate social distancing in our Houston location, this position will provide a temporary adjusted schedule where one to two days per week will be worked in the office for the remainder of the pandemic.  Additionally, some interviews will be held via video conference.  At the end of the pandemic, work schedules will be reassessed and communicated accordingly.

This is a full-time position focused on providing HR and benefits support to all levels of personnel using applicable knowledge in human resources with highly developed interpersonal, organizational and technical skills.

Job Responsibilities:

Payroll

  • Process bi-weekly payroll
  • Process special payrolls for bonuses and terminated employees
  • Prepare and disseminate OT and PTO reports
  • Process incentive pay (Credential Bonus/Pay Adjustment Processing)
  • Assist with new state/locality registration, as needed
  • Audit W-2 previews for accuracy
  • Audit PTO
  • Complete employment verifications & unemployment information requests
  • Prepare and submit various required reporting

Benefits

  • Provide benefits enrollment information to newly eligible employees
  • Process enrollments and changes for multiple benefit groups
  • Maintain benefit records (provider sites & company records) and employee records
  • Provide monthly report on owed benefit amounts for sister company
  • Provide 401(k) enrollment information to newly eligible employees
  • Verify accuracy of 401(k) deduction uploads from vendor are accurate
  • Verify HRIS system limits (401k, H S A)
  • Report terminated employees to COBRA provider
  • Audit and reconcile monthly benefits invoices from carriers, creates reports, and assists in resolving any problems or discrepancies.

General HR/Other

  • Maintain the Paylocity human resources information system (HRIS) for 150+ employees
  • Process new hire paperwork
  • Process terminations
  • Perform HR generalist responsibilities, including drafting corporate-wide communications regarding payroll, benefits plans and other HR items
  • Replenish office supplies
  • Collect & track Password Policy Acknowledgements (quarterly).
  • Administer leaves of absence (FMLA, STD, benefits, etc.)
  • Track and manage EPL limits per employees (Covid related)
  • Maintain office extension list
  • Plan special events (post-pandemic) & employee appreciation initiatives
  • Provide company gifts
  • Request guidance as needed
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree – Business, Human Resources or other applicable field desired
  • Payroll experience (3 years) required (particularly multi state payroll)
  • Experience with Paylocity (or other similar cloud-based payroll software) is a plus
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Prior benefits experience desired
  • Understanding of general accounting principles
  • HR or payroll certifications preferred
  • Ability to maintain confidential information
  • Ability to work efficiently to meet goals and deadlines
  • Attention to detail with a high level of data entry accuracy
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills
