Description

This is an exempt experienced position focused on thorough understanding of IRS rules and regulations surrounding loan and distributions and managing the Distribution Department.


The Distribution Team Leader would be required to demonstrate a superior working knowledge of ERISA, including an understanding of termination, in-service, hardship, death distributions, loans, QDROs, MRDs, cash-outs, J & S requirements, beneficiary designations, 1099-R and 945 Forms. They must have the ability to understand and interpret proposed and new regulations affecting the retirement industry.


This Distribution Team Leader position will focus primarily on managing annually recurring distribution projects (MRDs, cash out distributions, testing-related refunds) and non-routine distributions, assisting with escalation issues, and/or mentoring entry level staff. This position is bonus eligible and eligible for telecommuting.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage 5-8 staff members
  • Champion Nova 401(k) Associates values and policies
  • Ensure client and participant satisfaction through the loan and distribution process
  • Manage the team to meet Nova's performance metrics
  • Monitor team productivity through daily report generation
  • Develop reports for senior management
  • Assist in training and mentoring of junior staff members throughout the year
  • Manage RMD process, cash out process, refund, and other annual processes
  • Study and improve processes
  • Keep current with new regulations and proposed legislation as well as an awareness of proposed legislation surrounding loans and distributions
  • Communicate with participants, principals, clients, financial advisors, attorneys, CPAs, and other professionals on plans assigned to your team throughout the loan and distribution process
  • Perform other related duties as required
  • Complete performance reviews in a timely manner
  • Attend leadership & development training in Houston (or other location) at least 2-3 times per year

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • A minimum of 5 years of management experience in a fast-paced environment
  • Relevant industry experience processing or reviewing 401(k) loans/distributions
  • Comfortable working online
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and customer service skills
  • Ability to maintain confidential information
  • Superior organizational skills
  • Proficiency with MS Excel and MS Word
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and ability to multi-task
  • Clean background check
  • ASPPA/NIPA industry credentials a plus
